Book Haul August 2016

In Feature by Nya10 Comments

August was a pretty busy month, so much work (and so much play too). As always, I haven’t read nearly as much as I wanted to. And, as always, that didn’t stop me from buying new books. Surprisingly enough, I’ve managed to keep my purchases to a minimum.

Since I’ve just been on holidays, me and Fenrile wanted to make the most of the sun and this contributed to even a bigger delay on my reading and blogging schedule – but hey, holidays are holidays! I won’t go in depth about all the comics I’ve purchased (digital and not) because that’s something you will be able to check on LTS. However, I will show you here the compiled volumes and graphic novels.

So DC Bombshells Volume 1 and Wonder Woman: Gods and Mortals are both books I am looking forward to reading.

I’ve also purchased a very handy accessory called Flexilight which is basically a booklight and bookmark in one. I hate the lighting in my room at night and this seemed to be the perfect solution. This tiny accessory is powerful enough to lighten two whole pages of your book but soft enough to not bother your soulmate while he’s sleeping.

Kindle purchases have all revolved around Comixology as well, so it included a few Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn titles, and I’ve also started to read iZombie (after having watched the TV show).

iZombie, Vol. 1: Dead to the World iZombie, Vol. 2: uVampire (iZombie #2) Batman: Harley Quinn New Suicide Squad, Vol. 1: Pure Insanity Batman: Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, 25th Anniversary Edition Jokeri

How about you? Has August been a productive reading month for you? Have you purchased many new books?

  1. Борка Шаула

I have read only one book, but now that the school started I am going to be reading many more! I need flexilight 100% !

  2. Jon

The bookmark and booklight in one looks handy, I could see myself using that on flights when you don’t want to disturb other passengers.

  3. Vineet Gupta

OMG!!! All these comic books are taking me back to my childhood days when I use to be crazy to get my hands on such books. I use to go to the book stores and keep on reading these book. Thanks for this awesome post 🙂

  4. Ruxandra

I purchased the 2 Freakonomics group and the last 2 Harry Potter books in French (for an extra challenge)! I so need that bookmark!

  5. Carola

I really love this book haul. I think every single item is interesting! I’ve watched a few episodes of izombie now. But I’m not done yet. But I am curious how the comic will look like. Same for Harley Quinn/ suicide squad. Loved Harley Quinn in the movie, so now I’m a fan :). All the covers look amazing by the way!

I understand your love for books, I am the same way and whenever my library has a book sale, I’m there filling up bags. From the ones you mentioned, the ones I would probably like best would be the Wonder Woman books. Other than that, I like long novels myself. Nice post!

  7. Lesley-Anne

I have a light similar to the flexi-light, my partner and I both have one and they are amazing. I’m reading a Colin Tudge book that challenges Richard Dawkins theories, it’s pretty good so far 🙂
